Hao Zhong
Dr. Hao Zhong is a passionate technology innovator and entrepreneur that has been contributing numerous cutting edge technology and product in data storage and computing industry for over 20 years. Since Oct 2014, Hao, as the CEO, co-founded ScaleFlux that is leading the computational storage subsystem development in the industry.
Prior to ScaleFlux, Hao was a Sr. Director at Fusion-io where he led the flash memory technology team and enabled LDPC technology in industry leading PCIe SSDs. Prior to Fusion-io, Hao was with SandForce as an engineering director working on SSD controller chips. Prior to SandForce, Hao was an architect at LSI working on hard disk drive read channel product and the key contributor to the industry first 40nm LDPC read channel chip in 2008. Hao received his Ph.D degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

JB Baker
JB Baker is a successful technology business leader with a 25+ year track record of driving top and bottom-line growth and specializes in new products for enterprise and data center storage. He joined ScaleFlux in 2018 to lead product planning & marketing as ScaleFlux expands its footprint in the data center and enterprise markets.
JB entered the data storage field with Intel in 2000 to manage the i960 and xScale I/O Processors. He transitioned to LSI in 2008 where he led the definition and launch of the LSI Nytro PCIe Flash products and was instrumental in ramping the new product line with Tier 1 OEMs, hyperscalers, and financial industry customers. With Seagate’s acquisition of the LSI Flash assets in 2014, JB transitioned to Seagate where his role expanded to cover the entire SSD product portfolio resulting in record levels of SSD revenue for the company. He earned his B.A. from Harvard and MBA from the Johnson School at Cornell.
Chief Scientist, Co-Founder
Tong Zhang
Dr. Tong Zhang is a well-established researcher with 20+ years of experience and significant contributions to the areas of data storage systems and VLSI signal processing. Dr. Zhang is a co-founder and Chief Scientist of ScaleFlux, responsible for developing key techniques and algorithms for Computational Storage products and exploring their optimal use in mainstream application domains such as database.
He is currently a Professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). His current and past research span over a wide range of areas, including database, filesystem, solid-state and magnetic data storage devices and systems, digital signal processing and communication, error correction coding, VLSI architectures, and computer architecture. He has published over 150 technical papers at prestigious USENIX/IEEE/ACM conferences and journals with the citation h-index of 36, and has served as general and technical program chairs for several premier conferences. Among his many research accomplishments, he made pioneering contributions to establishing the research area of flash memory signal processing and enabling practical implementation of low-density parity-check (LDPC) codecs in commercial data storage and communication systems. He received two best paper awards and has over 20 issued/pending US patent applications. He holds BS/MS degrees in EE from the Xi’an Jiaotong University, China, and PhD degree in ECE from the University of Minnesota.

Fei Sun
Dr. Fei Sun is an accomplished technology pioneer in data storage industry. With 15+ years of experience, he is Head of Engineering at ScaleFlux since 2014, and drives all aspects of ScaleFlux’s engineering strategies and execution.
Prior to ScaleFlux, he was a senior manager in storage division at Marvell Semiconductor, where he led a key team with 20+ engineers to develop high performance SSD controllers. His team developed flagship SSD controllers including industry’s 1st PCIe SSD controller which was widely deployed in MacBooks, and NVMe based PCIe SSD controller which integrated Marvell’s NANDEdge error-correcting technology. He also led the team to develop Marvell’s 3rd generation SATA controller which is in mass production with top tier customers. Dr. Sun holds 10+ US patents, and has published over 20 referred papers in the area of VLSI signal processing in storage. He is the recipient of awards including the 2005 low power design contest award from the International Symposium on Low Power Electronics and Design (ISLPED2005), and the 2007 Allen B Dumont Prize from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Dr. Sun holds Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from RPI, and M.S./B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong Univiersity.

Eric Pike
Eric is the Vice President of Business Development and Sales at ScaleFlux. His 25+ years of technical and business development leadership roles will drive ScaleFlux’s efforts to deliver value added solutions to the global data infrastructure market. Before joining ScaleFlux, Eric was leading data center and enterprise SSD business development as a senior director at Western Digital where he navigated through the acquisition/merger from Fusion-io to SanDisk. Prior to that, Eric worked at Numoyx, a spin-off/merger of Intel and STMicro NOR Flash divisions which was later acquired by Micron. Before Micron, Eric spent 14 years at Intel working in Assembly and Test Technology on Microprocessors and Chipsets. Eric graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor of science in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Saeed Raja
Saeed Raja is the Vice President of Products. He is responsible for developing the mid-to-long-term product and solutions roadmap for ScaleFlux, including Compute Express Link (CXL). He is also responsible for driving associated technology alliances, partnerships, and services delivery. Saeed has 25+ years of experience in leadership roles in product strategy, product management, and product marketing roles at Micron Technologies, SanDisk, EMC, NetApp, and Hewlett-Packard. Most recently at Micron Technologies, he was a senior director of product management for emerging memory products, including Storage Class Memory and first generation CXL products targeting hyperscale datacenter. Saeed earned his MBA from Graduate School of Business, Columbia University, New York.
